about my work

I use traditional textile processes: rag rugging, beadwork, needle-felting, needle-punching and stitch, employing both hand and mechanical ways of working, to create two and three dimensional pieces.

My sculptural and painterly approach involves the use of a vast array of fabrics and fibres, in order to achieve the vibrant or subtle colour blends, and rich embellished surfaces, which are significant features of my work.

These tactile surfaces are often rich with symbolism, expressing inner states of being, and referencing folk art, mythologies, legends, and artefacts of other times and cultures, to address universal themes, such as our inner and outer journey through life.

Reclaimed and recycled fabrics are often used, and acknowledge both past necessities and current ecological preoccupations.
